Richman lived in NYC while the Velvets were still together.  The legend is 
that he lived in the VU manager Steve Sesnick's office and slept on his 
couch while he was there.

The Modern Lovers LP was recorded in '72 but wasn't released until '76.  I 
think The Modern Lovers formed in 1970 and were playing out in '71.
