Priest to me
epitomize metal shedding its roots in bluesy hard rock
and thus
becoming rather uninteresting. You can probably trace
this back to
post-Gillan Deep Purple. (Although I give Priest
credit for doing a full on S&M leather show in front
of the most homophobic audiences in
the world and making them love it....and I actually
admit to liking
"Diamonds and Rust" and "Living After Midnight" as
guilty pleasures of a sort....)

BTW was there any connection between the metal
Scorpions and
the German garage band of the 60s? Maybe one or two
members
in common?
