Greetings & Salutations!
I had a second helping of the Blackbeard's Lost Weekend Festival. I hope I
am pronouncing and spelling their names correctly, but the first band that
played was Pernicious Kaniffs from Ohio. They were more arty sounding the rest of
the bands, but they were good. Maximus from New Orleans were entertaining;
the trio dressed up as Ancient Romans and played really raw 70s style punk/60s
frat rock. A drunk and pretty girl kept on dancing with me and shaking me
around, yet I made no complaints. The next band that played were the New Planet
Trampolines which sounded like the Syd Barrett era of Pink Floyd (but more
garage oriented). The keyboardist's Farfisa almost died, but they shook around a
few wires and got the thing going again. Coffin Bound was the last band, but
they were loud and not that impressive. It was like they were part of that
90s punk scene that decided to go garage (and doing it badly). I am looking
forward to day number 3 with Jimmy and the Teasers, Dexter Romweber, and another
helping of the Spinns.
Cheers!
Melvin Little
