I believe it. In the 80s I worked at Cinema Collectors
in Hollywood next to Club Lingerie, and all these guys
(usually middle aged) would always be demanding
pictures of a 15 year old Alyssa Milano. They tended
to be really creepy - I remember a few demanding her
home address. I never realized how many psycho stalker
types were out there until I worked there. And
inevitably most of them tended to be hung up on
"wholesome" celebs (especially teens).
There were a couple of odd obsessives - a woman who
had tattoos of Fred Gwynne as Herman Munster and
another tattoo reading "Me and Fred 4-Ever" who bought
loads of pictures of Gwynne (not just from the
Munsters), and this guy who bought $600 worth of John
Astin pix with a check that bounced. I regarded them
as more funny than scary.
