[bomp] Carl Wayne, from the BOMP archives
In remembering Carl Wayne, here's what I posted in BOMP on August 3rd, 2002
hours after meeting him. Pardon me that some of this is a repeat of what I
posted earlier tonight.
<<< Tonight I met Carl Wayne, backstage at the Hollies (who he now sings for)
concert at the Westbury Music Fair, Long Island. Very nice guy. I talked to
him for a few minutes. When I told him I had seen an old crony of his at The
Village Underground back in March, he said that he and Roy may come around and
do some shows together in America next year. Now THAT would be cool. I hope it
happens.
Carl said that he recorded an album 33 years ago, and he's adding some
touches to it for a future release...I think he said Roy was helping him with that
as well. So that's something Move fans can look forward to as well.Carl said
that he and Roy are still good mates, and that he (Carl) is still on good terms
with the other Movers...but Roy is NOT.
Carl affectionately called Roy a maniac. "I've known him since he was six and
he hasn't changed a bit."
I also met Jerry Yester and Joe Butler of The Lovin' Spoonful (who opened the
show) and shook hands real quickly with Bobby Elliot of the Hollies. They all
seemed like friendly gents as well. But getting to talk to Carl was cooler
than that. >>>
