[bomp] Carl Wayne, RIP
I only just found this out on another board...

I'm very sad about that. Not only was he a great singer for a great band, but
I was fortunate enough to meet him in the summer of 2002 when he was touring
with The Hollies. It was a double bill with The Lovin' Spoonful, who played
first. I went backstage during intermission, and was glad to have quick chats
with Jerry Yester, Joe Butler and Bobby Elliot...but Carl was the one I really
wanted to meet. When I saw the guy I guessed was him, he was talking to some
people. I walked over, he saw me and said "Hi. I'm Carl." I shook his hand and
said "Yes, I'm a big Hollies fan and a big Move fan." I talked to him for a few
minutes, and he was very friendly and funny too. I remember him talking about
Roy Wood (I told him I had seen Roy's show earlier that year, and that his
band was almost entirely young women, to which Carl replied "He's no fool." Carl
also, fondly, called him a lunatic and said something like "I've known Roy
since he was six and he hasn't changed a bit.")
Very sad. God bless him.
