Swoon Pop?!
I love the Left Banke. Like I said, I think they are the closest thing we
have to an American Zombies. I love the way Steve Martin goes mental of
"Evening Gown". That song is why I named my songwriting company CoCo
Baroque(that and the fact it was a Max Factor lipstick shade in the 60's and
also a wave to Coco Chanel with whom I share a birthday). Anyhoo,I dig all
those bands that David Coyle mentions and I'd like to add a few The Rising
Storm and Orpheus(yeah,Boston!!!)I missed that post where someone belittled
Left Banke fans. Oh,I see,for some Left Banke is too lightweight,Led Zep is
too "ridiculous",and now somebody implied that people who don't like new wave
are jerks. Sheesh! Let people talk about what they want (Led Zep included...I
dug it when Harold played that Zep/Deep Purple/Black Sabbath at the Raven New
Year's Eve-to me this stuff sounded ALRIGHT after not hearing it for about
25+ years)I also am incredulous that Richard Ashcroft of the Verve was sued
for "Bitter Sweet Symphony". Evidently he "borrowed" a very miniscule drum
part iin Andrew Loog Oldham's symphonic version of "Last Time". But when you
find out who did the suing,it's not so surprising-Allen Klein!!!--Nancy Neon
PS Johnny Angel, are Thrills, etc. still playing the Linwood in April?
