OK, the Butthole Surfers!! Caught them last nicht, little rocknet class trip... A real trip... Seemed the Surfers pulled a fast one.. In the past they were all over the place, smashed face, grungy noisemiesters...Then they seemed to be progressing toward a more structured show, more in a way of psychodelia... spaced out slow... Seems last night they came straight at us, heavy, clear, and bashing.... Am definately getting too smashed tho, and most of the show, beyond the pain in my arm und head, seems to have dissapated. Wuzn't keeping my eye on the stage, which helps one follow the music, kinda blurred in the pit scene [gonna have to start taking it easier Mike]... But still, seemed they dispensed with anything recognizable, no old staples, no Hurdy Gurdy Man, I assume this was all off their new album, and LISaid, seems to be a bit of a departure.... And it seemed like 100 miles an hour from the git go, which didn't help me keep me head... In the past they were quite the mixer uppers...slow-fast-slow-slow-fast.... They really just didn't let up last night, seemed closer to metal then anything they'd ever done before, but only in the loosest sense, they're still the butthole surfers.... Didn't get cymbal with fire until encore.... Wuz different, and bashing, which is actually pretty cool....They had been going a little different and mellowing.... They done threw a killer changeup! Good stuff..Und as exhausting as evaa....
Opening for dem wuz, "Bad Livers"..... A big standup bass, a violin, and a banjo [hot lead banjo licks!] and surprisingly or not, they were killer as well... Covers of Guns and Roses, bit of Hendrix, und a few others, kicked like nothing I'd ever heard, I mean they really bashed those things, producing quite the knee slappping bash, kinda like hardcore Yahoo!....
