Fun quote of the week, here. It's from SPIN via the East Coast Rocker. It's by Jim Ried of Jesus and the Mary Chain,

"Everyone must know how much we love the Stooges. Well, I've met Iggy Pop, and the guy's a sad, old, pathetic sh*t. We went to a rehersal studio and Johnny Rotten was there, and he was just this completely pathetic zero. He's a sad old comedian. I thought, 'Well, at least we've done more than that old f*cking scumbag.' Bowie is responsible for the worst side of music. Toyah Wilcox, the New Romantics. A f*cking scumbag. Someone should've killed him. If he'd died in '72, music would be a lot healthier now. I don't know if things in pop can be shaken up, but I believe if anyone's done it, we have. We've caused a lot of change."

Millie Vanilli casualty, we've got here. I mean I saw these guys in 86, supposedly they were trailblazing at the time. Boring comes to mind, mediocre, and did I say boring, and awful, I mean I really didn't think they had anything going for them, cept for a few 'lets-try-and-make-stars-so-we-think-we-accomplish-something critics'. I'd hate to tell Mr. Ried, the one cut of Toyah Wilcox that I have off of Urgh, I'd listen to well before anything he's managed to do. I quite like it as a matter of fact. What a dick. Reminds me of this thing in Trouser Press, they asked Ian Mcculloch what he thought of John Cale, and vice versa, twas pretty funny. Can't remember the details, but Cale was flattering, and McCulloch wasn't, not quite as hostile as the above, but close. Tho, I'd sooner accept McCulloch, then this poser Reid.
